Job Description

We seek a creative and mission-driven Director of Integrated Marketing Communications to support the creation of compelling content that elevates our brand, shares the stories of our community, and advances the Foundation’s mission. This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape how we communicate across platforms—bringing compassion, clarity, and consistency to digital campaigns, storytelling efforts, and organizational messaging.

The Director contributes to the production of thoughtful, inclusive content; manages cross-channel marketing initiatives; and supports internal teams with strategic communications that drive engagement. Equally important, this position helps ensure the voices of individuals and families impacted by Marfan, Vascular Ehlers-Danlos (VEDS), Loeys-Dietz (LDS), and related conditions are heard and honored.

Reporting to the Chief Communications & Marketing Officer (CCMO), the ideal candidate is a strong writer and project manager who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment and is passionate about using content to build awareness, connection, and community.

Requirements

  • Master-class level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with multitasking ability
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and produce high-volume content without sacrificing quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience with Canva, email platforms, Campaign Monitor, Hootsuite, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management tools like Asana.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies for event promotion.
  • Some comfort with video creation/editing tools and workflows.
  • Deep empathy for the communities we serve and a strong alignment with the Foundation’s mission and voice.
  • Ability to take direction with a smile; serve as a true team player in a fast-paced environment with constantly evolving projects.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and travel occasionally as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related discipline
  • 7+ years of professional experience in writing, communications, or digital content production. (3rd act professionals welcome)
  • Professional experience in roles demanding fast turnarounds with a high-level of excellence.
  • Some professional experience in deepening connections with individuals/communities
  • Continued engagement in professional development
  • Data capture/management experience

Responsibilities

  • Storytelling & Editorial Execution
  • Write a minimum of 6–8 community stories per month, highlighting personal and medical journeys—including stories of loss—with compassion and clarity.
  • Participate in story development and interviewing to shape authentic narratives that reflect the voices of the community.
  • Oversee the production and timely distribution of four e-newsletters, tailored to unique Foundation audiences.
  • Adapt long-form stories into content suitable for social media, blog, email, and print.
  • Digital, Social, and Visual Content Support
  • Draft platform-appropriate, mission-aligned copy for social media and place prepared posts in Hootsuite.
  • Experience in web-posting via WordPress or similar tools.
  • Use Canva to produce visuals that accompany written content across platforms.
  • Generate essential routine communications, such as event announcements, email reminders, and donor outreach.
  • Nice to have: Create and/or edit video content for digital use, including stories, testimonials, or Foundation events.
  • Project Management & Collaboration
  • Create and manage project workflows using Asana; track deadlines, approvals, and content assignments.
  • Work collaboratively, take strategic direction, and nimbly adjust and evolve approaches as needed.
  • Support general marketing and communications needs as they arise, including specific project leadership.
  • Content & Channel Maintenance
  • Manage and maintain video uploads and playlists on YouTube, ensuring content is tagged, organized, and current.
  • Keep internal content libraries – such as image libraries - updated, searchable, and easy to use across teams.
  • Maintain editorial calendars to support consistent publishing and messaging flow.
  • Ensure Canva is an organized, searchable, team tool.
